Onyx Solar fostering knowledge and innovation in Europe

Onyx Solar® participated in the 9^th Conference of the Investigation and Innovation Programme of the European Union in Spain, celebrated on 16^th November

 

The objective of this event was drawing conclusions about the Spanish participation in the Horizon 2020 Programme, which funds the best European R&D projects within various topics for the period 2014-2020.

Onyx Solar® contributed with its successful experience in this Programme thank to the the participation in Advanced BIPV and PVSITES projects through which is developing a new PV glass product portfolio with optimized features in terms of efficiency, format, aesthetics and mechanical performance.

URBAN SUSTAINABILITY – ONYX SOLAR© IN THE 7th GREENCITIES CONGRESS

Onyx Solar© showed the latest advances in the development of its PV glass products.

Onyx Solar© presented the European projects Advanced BIPV and PVSITES through which is developing a new PV glass product portfolio with optimized features in terms of efficiency, format, aesthetics and mechanical performance, laying the foundations for its commercialization.

The Congress took place on 5^th-6^th October in Málaga within the 7^th Forum of Urban Intelligence and Sustainability which received more than 2.800 visitors from 20 countries worldwide, counting on representation from more than 800 public and private entities.

SAN ANTON’S PHOTOVOLTAIC SKYLIGHT, SELECTED AS OFFICIAL PARTNER BY THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION

One of the main goals of the European Union is to reduce the amount of CO2 emissions to the environment and to stimulate the design of more energy efficient buildings.  In order to achieve that some objectives have been established for the upcoming years, and companies, institutions and individuals showing this same commitment are being awarded.

Among those recognized actors is Onyx Solar, selected as an official partner of the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign for its photovoltaic skylight in the San Anton Market (Madrid). The project avoid the emission of 5 tons of CO2 a year by integrating a PV glass into the roof, adding a 20% degree of semi transparency to the glass in order to permit daylight to get into the building.

The program’s goal is to showcase activities dedicated to energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions. Concretely the focus is on spreading best practice in sustainable energy technology, build alliances and inspire new energy ideas and actions.

With this award, the photovoltaic skylight will be promoted in 450 events through the year 2011, including the “Energy Days” held each year in Brussels gathering the most renowned professionals within the sector worldwide. In addition to that, the project will be nominated for the Sustainable Energy Europe Awards Competition 2011.
