The University of Washington and Millersville University (Pennsylvania) will integrate Onyx Solar’s transparent PV Glass on their campus as part of their commitment to sustainability.

The University of Washington’s project, designed by renowned Perkins + Will and constructed by Skanska USA, will feature 7,000sqft of transparent PV glass manufactured by Onyx Solar in their “Life Science Building”, dedicated to R&D activities. The project is set to be completed by the end of the year.

Millersville University will integrate Onyx Solar’s transparent PV glass in the curtain wall located at The Lombardo Welcome Center, its first Net Zero Energy Building. It is scheduled to be opened in January of 2018.

These two American universities join others such as Valladolid University and George Washington University in Virginia, that are already generating their own free, clean energy thanks to Onyx’s game-changer product.

Onyx Solar is working on a Photovoltaic Greenhouse project that aims to demonstrate the technical, economic and environmental feasibility of a greenhouse integrating photovoltaic glass.

The result is a Distributed Energy System capable of obtaining the necessary energy for self-consumption operation.

Therefore, the greenhouse will accomplish the function of vegetable production recovering at the same time the necessary electric energy to cover the needs of its integrated microgrid.

The project “Sustainable multifunctional urban furniture” in Ecuador has been awarded as one of the best projects in the Green Latin American Awards 2017!

This project, which integrates Onyx Solar’s PV glass in urban canopies, is an example of photovoltaic integration in cities. Beauty and functionality for the benefit of everyone!

COCA-COLA/FEMSA HQ in Monterrey (Mexico) integrates 400 units of Onyx Solar PV Glass in its ventilated façade. This solution improves the building’s efficiency, allows its users to see the outside and improve its aesthetics! It also protects its occupants from the extreme temperature changes.

Alfredo de la Rosa, Manager of Internal Civil Works at FEMSA, tells us about his experience with this PV façade that has allowed the building to save 35% of energy consumption.

Onyx Solar®´s photovoltaic glasses can be customized in order to optimize its performance in different climate conditions. Its solar factor (g), which indicates the amount of energy that goes through a glazing, ranges from 5% to 40% depending on the glass configuration.

Onyx Solar®’s range of glass can reach every possible U value or thermal transmittance possible. Said values are in direct relation with the ability to maintain optimal temperature conditions inside the building, since they determine the amount of heat the glass lets through.
