The new factory of Onyx Solar will allow the company an annual production of photovoltaic glass at 140,000 m2 per year and will create 60 jobs.

Onyx Solar is a leader in designing, manufacturing and marketing the building integrated photovoltaic.  The company has started setting up a new factory with 8,000m2 in the industrial district of Vicolozano in Avila, Spain.

Thanks to the new facility with cutting edge technology and machinery, Onyx Solar aims to increase its production space up to 140,000 m2. The opening of the new facility will employ 60 additional people, who will be joining the 40 existing staff members. 

The relocation of the manufacturing facility in Ávila, where Onyx Solar headquarters is located, reinforces the strategy of Onyx Solar in promoting growth and wealth of the region where it was founded.

Álvaro Beltran, the Founder of Onyx Solar, is a young entrepreneur who, in a little over 5 years, has managed to turn his dream into reality.

The CEO, Álvaro Beltran, states “it is necessary to invest on technological innovation, while utilizing internationalization as the main driving force for development and growth of a country. The products made in Spain are high quality”. He further elaborates, “as entrepreneurs, we have the responsibility to create income, wealth, and employment in our community all the while trusting in sustainable measures to protect the environment.” “This requires commitment and efforts of all and every one.  We all hold in our hands the power of making our cities a better place where people can live and work”.  Beltran added, “to paraphrase John F. Kennedy, ‘ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”.

Founded in 2009, Onyx Solar has managed to overcome the national economic crisis thanks to its strong commitment to internationalization and innovation. Today it has completed projects in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Spain, France, Italy, Morocco and China. The company has also collaborated with some of the most renowned architects such as Norman Foster, Rafael Viñoly, Ricardo Bofill and Adrian Smith. Furthermore, Onyx Solar has an international network of distributors on five continents that reinforces its presence around the world.  Its clients include some of the most predominant companies on the international scene such as Coca-Cola, Samsung Novartis and Pzifer.

The most important milestones of the company include the patent of the world’s first walkable photovoltaic floor which was installed at George Washington University and has received numerous awards for its high degree of innovation; the execution of the largest photovoltaic skylight of the world integrated at the headquarters of the pharmaceutical company Novartis in New Jersey. This respective project, in collaboration with the installation of the Onyx Solar photovoltaic technology, was awarded the “Best Project of New York 2014” in the category of sustainable building.

The growing presence of Onyx Solar has not gone unnoticed.  Its innovative character associated with the development of sustainable photovoltaic technologies, makes the company count with the support of the Group’s capital risk FIDES, the FJME and ENISA in addition to the European Commission (which places the firm as one of the European companies with greater growth potential).
